How to Download Instagram Reels on iPhone

Saving an Instagram Reel on iPhone does not need a shady app from the App Store. Everything works right inside Safari or Chrome, and the file lands in your Files app ready to move to Photos. Here is the exact process, plus where the file goes and how to fix it if the download does not start.

What you need

Any iPhone running iOS 13 or later, the Safari or Chrome browser, and a link to a public Reel. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Where the file saves on iPhone

In Safari, downloads go to the Files app under the Downloads folder. From there you can tap and hold the file and choose Save Video to move it into Photos. In Chrome for iOS, use the download menu and then open Photos to keep the clip in your Camera Roll.

If the download does not start

  • Make sure the account is public - private Reels cannot be saved by any tool.
  • Copy the link again directly from the Instagram Share menu.
  • Try Safari if Chrome is blocking the download, or vice versa.
  • Check that the Reel has not been deleted.
